In Spanish, a prepositional pronoun (object pronoun) is used instead of the name of a person, animal or a thing. The subject pronoun is always followed by a preposition. Prepositional pronouns (pronombres preposicionales) are similar to the subject pronouns, except, that prepositional pronouns follow a preposition such as a, de, para or con.
Singular | Prepositional Pr. | Plural | Prep. Pr. |
---|---|---|---|
Yo | mí (me) | Nosotros/nosotras | nosotros/nosotras (us) |
Tú | ti (you) | Vosotros/vosotras | vosotros/vosotras |
Usted | usted (you) | Ustedes | ustedes |
Él | él (him) | Ellos/ellas | ellos/ellas (them) |
Ella | ella (her) | ||
Yourself, himself, herself, itself | sí |
Important:
Mí, ti and sí are different from the singular subject pronouns. Mí and sí have accent marks.
Spanish Mí / Ti / Sí + the Preposition ‘Con’ (with)
- Conmigo – With me
- ¿Vienes al cine conmigo?
- Contigo – With you (fam.)
- Quiero ir al cine contigo.
- Consigo– With you (fam./ formal), with him (self), with her (self), with them (selves)
- Ella se llevo el dinero consigo.
